OPG investment in printing equipment image

Allan Hamilton, Managing Director commented

“This investment marks a significant development of the business, doubling the operating capacity and reflecting the confidence we have in our growth plans. The addition of this new equipment sits alongside investment in new MIS and automation technology with everything being focussed on providing excellent service and support to our customers”.

This investment was supported by funding from Scottish Enterprise and has helped the business accelerate its growth, increasing turnover by 40% in the last 2 years and generating new roles at its head office. The business works with household names including Greggs, Warburtons, McDonalds and Amazon, all of which you will see on the nation’s roads and motorways daily.

As well as being a significant development for the business, this is also a very poignant time for Operations Director, Tristan Harrold. His career in the print industry spans 20 years, starting with operating HP print equipment and later becoming a highly regarded service engineer for HP before joining OPG. Now as co-owner of the business, this investment marks a personal accomplishment. Harrold commented

“Myself, Stuart and Allan completed the MBO of OPG almost 2 years ago and it has been amazing to see how our business has developed in that time. It’s a really proud moment for me personally, starting my career operating these machines to now purchasing them for a business I own”

OPG digitally prints exclusively on HP latex platforms and with good reason. The water-based technology aligns perfectly with the businesses focus on providing sustainable print solutions and by combining latex printing with fully recyclable materials, OPG provides one of the most environmentally friendly vehicle livery solutions available. Hamilton commented

“We have always had a commitment to sustainability, becoming one of the first companies in the world to be awarded ISO:14001 accreditation and we continue to have a core focus on providing our customers with industry leading innovation”.

With operating capacity of over half a million metres a year, the business has created a solid foundation for continued growth and continues to invest heavily in the business, and the wider print industry.
